I’m Rocky Mann, a professional potter working in a studio and gallery that borders beautiful Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine. Throughout my years as a potter, I have produced a wide range of work using a variety of styles and techniques. My work now revolves around treating the clay as a canvas and exploring various firing techniques. I am inspired by the natural world that surrounds me on Mount Desert Island, creating graphic patterns and imagery on my pottery, which continues to evolve as I explore and refine my work. I have individually designed, made, glazed and fired each piece of pottery you see here, in a body of work that includes high-fire glazed porcelain, raku pottery and saggarware.
I invite you to look through this site and explore my work for yourself. Most of my current work is available and can be ordered online through this website. Although I make more than one of an item, I have offered most pieces individually, so you can be sure that the item you order is the one you see in the photograph. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to order multiples or sets (each piece is individually made, but can be grouped to closely match.) You are also invited to stop in and visit our gallery in Bar Harbor on your next trip to Mount Desert Island. All of my work is on display, as well as the artwork of my wife, Carol Shutt. The gallery is open from 10 AM to 4 PM, June through October. We are closed on Mondays.
