Raku
Raku is an old Japanese process which was brought to this country in the 50s. American potters introduced the post-firing technique. The pot is taken out of the kiln at 1850° and placed in a combustible material, I use straw. The fire changes the nature of the glaze resulting in copper luster colors or black crackle affects. Each piece it Is extremely unique and different.
